Another important distinction of Optasia proves its leadership position at an international and global level in the fintech services sector. In particular, Optasia is included in the prestigious list of the Top 25 fintech companies in the Middle East for 2022, as compiled by the leading outlet Forbes Middle East. As noted, Forbes Middle East took into account several criteria to compile the list. In particular:

  • The amount of money executed through the digital channels in 2021.
  • Number of app downloads and active users.
  • Number of countries that the companies operate in.
  • Growth over the past year.
  • Examples of innovation in digital payments.
  • Impact on consumers and businesses.
  • Funding from venture capitalists.

Optasia’s outstanding performance has earned us a place on this prestigious list. As the outlet notes, in 2021, Optasia helped provide $2.8 billion in loans to consumers through its digital channels while having an average of 88 million monthly customers. Two years earlier, Development Partners International (DPI) had already invested $54 million in the company, which is also backed by Abu Dhabi’s Waha Capital and the South African investment company, Ethos. Finally, Forbes Middle East mentions some of Optasia’s most important clients, such as Ecobank, du, Vodafone, MTN, and the United Bank for Africa (UBA).
